OPPORTUNITIES FROM THE DIGITAL TRANSITION OF THE VIETNAMESE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

WHAT

Potential collaborations on digital healthcare innovation and solutions with Vietnamese stakeholders.

HOW

The Ministry of Health of Vietnam has set out goals for the digitalization of the healthcare sector with 100% as the outcome for almost all digital health indicators by 2030. These include indicators for data warehouse and specialized management information systems, provision of online public health services, deployment of medical digital platforms, synchronized patient data and digital payment, and ensuring infrastructure and information security.

To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Health is seeking collaboration on:

  • Completing the system of legal documents, standards, regulations, and economic-technical norms.
  • Developing medical information technology infrastructure.
  • Building a smart healthcare and disease prevention system.
  • Building a smart medical examination and treatment system.
  • Building a smart healthcare management system.
  • Building and developing human resources.
  • Promoting research, development and application of smart technologies in healthcare.
  • International cooperation.
  • Raising awareness about smart healthcare.

Business Sweden is forming the Sweden-Vietnam Health Alliance, which is a framework for a bilateral collaboration, driven by Team Sweden and industry partners and focused on:

  1. Capacity building and upskilling programs in several therapy areas.
  2. Supporting Vietnamese government with healthcare digitalization effort.
  3. Contributing to the development and enhancement of the healthcare infrastructure in the country.
  4. Exploring and facilitating commercial opportunities for Swedish companies in the healthcare sector in Vietnam.

The concept of the Alliance has been endorsed by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam in November 2024.
